Cards &Tags Thursday

Aloha! Gia here.  This week was Groundhog Day and I was so excited to hear that Punxsutawney Phil failed to see his shadow this year. According to legend,  2013 will have an early arrival of Spring! Living in Hawaii I often describe the weather as just like the movie Ground Hog Day where Bill Murray is forced to live the same day over and over again.  I made this tag card, which opens into an accordion calendar,  using the Teresa Collins paper line from the Memory Works Fall/Winter 2012 Catalog. I think the pretty colors and butterflies are just right for announcing, "Welcome Spring!" Don't you?

The supplies I used for this card (okay, well it's something between a tag and a card- I am trying to hide the fact that I normally don't make cards because I am not very good at them) included paper from Teresa Collins Tell Your Story line along with the coordinating washi tape trio. I added some Stitched Vellum Details and Baxter Brown/Blue Transparent Letter Stickers from Amy Tangerine's  Ready Set Go collection.

To assemble the accordion folded card, I used some large Avery tags (from my office supplies stash) and washi tape.

To create my background design, I used a doily as a stencil and misted over the assembled accordion on both sides with some Aquamarine Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels.

Here you can see a close-up of how it looks unfolded. Both sides are used so it has to be flipped over to display the latter half of the year when the time comes. You can find printable calendars online, or at your local craft store (mine are from Ben Franklin.)

Did you know that you can use washi tape just about anywhere you would use ribbon? In this project I threaded my tape through the holes in the tags and folded it over adhering it to itself. I snipped the edges in a v shape.

I would love to hear what you are creating while hopefully staying warm and cozy in your neck of the woods. If Phil the groundhog is correct, Spring is just around the corner!

Love,

Oh my, this is over the top creative! Love the idea of using washi for accordian folding tag together. I'm so scraplifting this idea.

This is such a fun project Gia! I was delighted to hear the Phil has predicted an early spring but the following weekend we ended up with a snow storm so I'm wondering how accurate he is.
Meanwhile, I'm playing with some washi tape projects to share on my blog this week and then I'll post them in the studio. Washi=fun=who cares what season it is. :)

EEK! I am so in love this Gia! I can already think of how I'd scrap-lift it! That washi acordian is a great idea & all that misting, washi and doilies makes me smile!
